Prince George Chamber of Commerce Appoints Neil Godbout as Permanent Executive Director
January 14, 2025
PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Neil Godbout as Executive Director, effective immediately. Godbout has served as Interim Executive Director since March 2024, stepping into the role permanently following former CEO Quynlan Young’s decision not to return after her maternity leave.
Cathy Mackay, President of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce Board, expressed her gratitude to Young for her contributions. “Quynlan’s leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on our Chamber and our community. We wish her all the best as she focuses on her family and future endeavors.”
Godbout brings decades of experience in leadership, communications, and community advocacy. With a background that includes award-winning journalism and active involvement in local organizations, Godbout has consistently demonstrated a talent for addressing complex issues and driving impactful initiatives throughout his interim role.
Reflecting on his appointment, Godbout stated, “I’m excited to continue building on the Chamber’s strong foundation, focusing on meaningful opportunities and partnerships—such as our Partnership Agreement with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and collaborations with organizations like Downtown Prince George and Community Futures of Fraser Fort-George—that deliver real value to our members and the broader community. Together, we will ensure the Chamber remains a trusted voice and leader in supporting business success in Prince George.” The Chamber is looking ahead to several key initiatives and events driving business growth and strengthening community ties in 2025:
- B2B Expo (February 14-15, 2025): A collaborative event with the City of Prince George and Community Futures connecting small businesses and promoting local economic growth.
- Security Camera Pilot Program: In partnership with Downtown Prince George and recently approved by City Council, this program will enhance safety for local businesses through strategic camera deployment and monitoring.
- #TrueNorth Business Development Forum (May 6, 2025): The annual flagship event fostering innovation and business leadership in Northern BC.
- 40th Annual Business Excellence Awards (November 1, 2025): Celebrating the achievements of the Prince George business community, the 40th BEAs will feature a special keynote by The Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould.
“Our Chamber is energized by these initiatives, which align with our commitment to being action-oriented and impactful for our members,” Mackay added. “Neil’s leadership will ensure we continue to build momentum and deliver value to the business community.”
